Selmer Mark VII Tenor Saxophone – 1981 – Fully Overhauled

A classic Selmer with a powerful voice – professionally overhauled in our Edinburgh Music Centre workshop.

A fantastic opportunity to own a late-production Henri Selmer Paris Mark VII Tenor Saxophone, dating from 1981.

The Mark VII occupies an important place in Selmer's history, following the legendary Mark VI and introducing updated ergonomics alongside a distinctive, more powerful tonal character.

Renowned for its bold projection, rich upper harmonics and strong tonal presence, the Mark VII became particularly popular with players exploring rock, fusion, jazz and contemporary styles.

This example is presented in good used condition, with some lacquer wear consistent with its age. Importantly, it has been fully overhauled through our own workshop at Edinburgh Music Centre and carefully prepared for sale.

Professionally Overhauled in Our Workshop

At Edinburgh Music Centre, we believe that every used instrument deserves proper attention before it reaches its next owner.

This Selmer Mark VII has received a full overhaul through our workshop, with careful attention to its mechanical condition, keywork, regulation and overall playing performance.

As with every used instrument we sell, it has also been personally inspected and play-tested by our team before being offered for sale.

We take pride in preparing our instruments properly, giving customers confidence that they are purchasing an instrument that has been professionally checked and set up by people who understand the craft.

The Selmer Mark VII – A Distinctive Selmer Sound

Introduced in the mid-1970s as the successor to the celebrated Mark VI, the Mark VII developed its own identity among professional saxophonists.

Its distinctive characteristics include:

  • A powerful, projecting tonal character.
  • Rich upper harmonics and a broad tonal palette.
  • Excellent presence and projection.
  • Updated keywork ergonomics compared with the Mark VI.
  • A particularly appealing sound for jazz, rock, fusion and contemporary music.
  • Classic Selmer Paris craftsmanship.
