Terms of service

These terms apply when you buy from us through edinburghmusiccentre.com or by phone. Please read them before you order. Nothing in them affects your legal rights as a consumer.

1. About us

2. Your order and our contract

When you place an order, we email you to confirm we've received it. That email is not acceptance. The contract between us starts when we email you to say your order has been dispatched or is ready to collect. If we can't accept your order, for example because an item is out of stock or mispriced, we'll tell you and won't charge you, or will refund you in full.

3. Prices and payment

  • Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT. Delivery charges are shown at checkout before you pay.
  • If the price of an item changes before we accept your order, we'll contact you first, and you can cancel.
  • If we've made an obvious pricing mistake, we'll tell you and you can either pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
  • We accept all major credit and debit cards, PayPal, Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Payments are handled by our payment providers; we never see or store your full card details.

4. Pre-owned, vintage and ex-demo items

We describe the condition of every pre-owned, vintage and ex-demo item in its listing. Your legal rights apply to these items too, judged against their age, price and description.

5. Delivery and risk

Delivery is covered by our Shipping policy. The goods are our responsibility until they reach you, or a person or safe place you nominate. They become yours once we've received full payment.

6. Cancelling and returning

You can cancel an online or phone order within 14 days of receiving it. Returns, refunds, faulty goods and the cancellation form are covered by our Return and refund policy, which forms part of these terms.

7. Gift cards

Gift cards expire 6 months after purchase and can't be exchanged for cash. An unused gift card bought online can be cancelled within 14 days like any other order.

8. Our responsibility to you

  • If we break these terms, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of that. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable.
  • We supply goods for private use. If you use them for business, we have no liability for loss of profit, business or opportunity.
  • We don't exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for breach of your legal rights in relation to the goods.

9. Events outside our control

If something beyond our reasonable control delays your order, we'll tell you as soon as we can. If the delay is likely to be substantial, you can cancel for a full refund of anything you've paid for goods not yet received.

10. Complaints

If you're unhappy with anything, email sales@edinburghmusiccentre.com, use the contact form on our website or call 0131 453 4652. We'll reply within 5 working days and aim to put things right within 14 days.

11. Your personal information

We use your personal information as set out in our Privacy policy.

12. Law and courts

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland. You can bring a claim in the Scottish courts. If you live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live.
